Digital storytelling as a modern art...

When I think of what 'digital storytelling' is, and what it can be I think of a museum. I think of a museum because, museums display a various array of art pieces that all have a different meaning to each of its viewers.

I feel that digital storytelling is the next major format for artistic expression. Because with technology there is already a variety of ways to express information. Then after one were to display their information its then up to those who access the info to interpret it.

I feel that technology is the next artistic tool because its available to everyone, there's some controversy about how revealing and proactive people can be with it, and soon enough it will be outdated. Technology and digital storytelling displays the same characteristics of other major artistic outlet, in relation to their time, that is why for now digital storytelling is the trendy art expression for the 2000s until the next outlet is found.

  1. I think its great that you correlated digital storytelling with museums, because it seems as if technology has already become an integral part of exhibits. I just recently visited the Albany Institute of Art with my class, to see the mummy exhibition. Although the exhibit did feature actual artifacts from Egypt, there was a section with a television, that was fixed on a slideshow. What I noticed was that while my fellow students took their time to look at the artifacts and the mummies, they also spent the same amount of time looking at the information at the television screen. In terms of museum exhibits, do you think that one can exist without the artifacts, and just be based solely off technology?

  2. That is an interesting take on temporary trend of digital storytelling. Like a fad that may go away, but I believe that it will only transform, hopefully for the better. Like the coming and going of social media, "so long myspace, hello facebook" and the cycles of popular memes, people will definitely change interests as time goes on but impact of online interaction leaves a permanent connection for digital media,
